By resolution of the U.S. Senate
and House of Representatives, working with the support and leadership
of the American Council for Teaching Languages, this year has been declared
2005: The Year of Languages. Their action has been led more than
20 states, including Texas, to bring this to the state level, and then
to the local level. The purpose of this declaration is to increase
the awareness of the importance of multilingualsm in the global economy
in which we live.
There are a number of national events scheduled.
