How to Learn a Second Language
Here are some practical tips that will help.
- Learning a second language
is just like learning to play a sport or play a musical instrument.
It takes practice and dedication. You will not learn it in 60-90
minutes, 5 days a week, for two years.
- Pick a language
that interests you.
- To be successful at learning
a new language you must have a need or desire to learn it.
.
- Learn about the
people who speak the language.
- Travel to a country
or area of your country, where the language is spoken.
- Make flash cards
for new vocabulary and review them daily.
- Check your Language
Department's Web Site for online tutorials and practice
activities.
- Look for commercial
software and shareware in the target language.
If you have any further suggestions
that you feel would help others, please forward them to the Language
Department Webmaster.
